Shooting Scenarios of MPVO SOI Series Airgun Scopes
The MPVO SOI VIOC scopes are able to be used in both hunting and recreational target shooting scenarios. First, let’s start by exploring the hunting scenario usages and how to select the right magnifications for your needs.
For airgun hunting, we are actually discussing small game hunting, varmint hunting, and pest control. Because shooting can change quickly, it’s best to have a scope with a good eyebox. This helps you see the full field of view fast.
Additionally, another factor to consider is weight. Many shooters like to use compact air guns for hunting small game. A compact scope is the best partner to mount on the air gun. With a wide field of view and a large eyebox, the MPVO SOI series air gun scopes allow you to quickly acquire your target.
When it comes to target shooting, your choice of magnification should depend on the shooting distance.
- For shooting distances up to 35 yards, a VictOptics SOI 4-12×40 MPVO (VIOC-04) scope is a solid option for your airgun.
- For 5-50m target shooting, the VictOptics SOI 1.5-5×20 MPVO (VIOC-01) and VictOptics SOI 2-7×32 MPVO (VIOC-02) is ideal.
- For distances between 20-200m, the VictOptics SOI 3-9×40 MPVO (VIOC-03) provides optimal magnification and clarity.
- For versatile close and mid-range shooting, we have VictOptics SOI 3-9×40 MPVO AO (VIOC-05) and VictOptics SOI 4-12×40 MPVO AO (VIOC-06) with AO adjustment.
Compatible Airgun Types for MPVO SOI Scopes
All SOI scopes are airgun-rated, making them suitable for spring piston and break barrel airguns. Want to learn more about airgun basics? Check out our comprehensive airgun guide part I and part II.
For example, both the HW99S (99 S), an entry-level springer, and the Gamo Whisper Wildcat .22, a break barrel action rifle, are perfect for small game hunting, pest control, or informal plinking. To engage small game at 20-25 meters with the 99 S, we recommend using a VictOptics SOI 3-9×40 MPVO (VIOC-03) rifle scope for optimal performance.
While for heavy-recoil spring piston air guns, consider the shockproof ability first. To mount on a spring piston air gun, a scope should remain stable and reliable. Otherwise, the internal parts may loosen after just a few shots.
The MPVO SOI scopes feature a robust aluminum alloy monotube design, ensuring they remain secure and won’t break apart, even under heavy recoil.
Why 1-inch Tube Scope? Understanding the Compact Design
Except for the VictOptics SOI 4-12×40 MPVO AO (VIOC-06), all scopes in the MPVO SOI series feature a 1-inch (25.4mm) diameter tube. The small tube diameter realizes compact and lightweight design. The 6 models of air gun scope weight range from 200 to 600 grams, offering the lightest possible options for your airgun configuration. For more details on tube size, take a look at this blog.
Let’s compare the weight & size between New SOI & Previous S6/S4 Series
VictOptics SOI 1.5-5×20 MPVO (VIOC-01) VS VictOptics S6 1-6×24 SFP LPVO (OPSL22)
| VIOC-01 | OPSL22 | |
| Tube Diameter | 25.4mm | 30mm |
| Objective Lens Dia | 20mm | 24mm |
| Focal Plane | SFP | SFP |
| Field of View | 14.21-4.35 ° | 21.0-3.5° |
| Click Value | 1/5 MIL | 1/5 MIL |
| Reticle | VNM-1 MIL | VI-CTSIX |
| Length | 220 mm / 7.9 in | 249 mm / 9.8 in |
| Weight | 225g/ 7.9oz | 425 g / 15.0 oz |
| Reticle | ![]() |
From the chart, we can know that the VIOC-01 is a more lightweight option compared to the OPSL22, with both featuring a 1/5 MIL click adjustment value.
VictOptics SOI 3-9×40 MPVO AO (VIOC-05) VS VictOptics S4 4-16×44 MDL SFP (OPSL16)
| VIOC-05 | OPSL16 | |
| Tube Diameter | 24.5mm | 30mm |
| Objective Lens Dia | 40mm | 44mm |
| Focal Plane | SFP | SFP |
| Field of View | 5.5-1.95° | 5.5-1.4° |
| Click Value | 1/10 MIL | 1/10 MIL |
| Reticle | VNM-1 MIL | MDL wire reticle |
| Length | 317 mm / 12.48 in | 315 mm / 12.4 in |
| Weight | 520g/ 18.3oz | 515 g / 18.2 oz |
| Reticle | ![]() |
The VIOC-05 features a 24.5mm diameter tube, while the OPSL16 has a 30mm tube. However, both scopes offer 1/10 MIL click adjustments, a similar weight, and a comparable field of view (FOV).
A popular choice for those who regard weight as a priority reduces the overall weight of the air gun setup. Moreover, a 1 inch tube scope is cheaper than 30- and 34mm tube because of the low manufacturing cost. That’s why it makes it the most budget-friendly entry-level scope to choose.
Normally, 1 inch tube scopes offer a smaller windage and elevation adjustment range than 30mm tube diameter. Therefore, people often use them in low-magnification scopes for close- to medium-range shooting.
Innovative Reticle Design for Enhanced Targeting
As for reticle patterns, SOI MPVO series scopes are equipped with VNM-1 MIL which is designed for multi-scenario accurate adjustments. The dash on the reticle can help you with windage and elevation adjustments. At the same time, we built them with red & green dual illumination settings. You can see the reticle clearly under low-light conditions and different shooting backgrounds, versatile and reliable for various shooting scenarios.

As shown in the chart, the VIOC-01 and VIOC-02 scopes have a fixed parallax setting at 50 yards, while the VIOC-03 and VIOC-04 are set at 100 yards. The VIOC-05 and VIOC-06 feature an AO (Adjustable Objective) parallax, allowing you to adjust the parallax for close-range distances. Besides, this AO feature ensures a crisp focus at shorter ranges, such as 5m or 10m, making these scopes more versatile and suitable for a variety of shooting scenarios.
